I am excited to introduce a new romance author: Delaney Rush. She is a self-published author with two works out right now!
Me: Hi, Delaney. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What inspired you to become a writer?
Delaney: I’m Delaney Rush. I was born and raised in North Dakota. I have always liked writing but just recently started self-publishing my short romances on Amazon Kindle.
Me: What are your current published work(s)? Genre?
Delaney: My current books are:
“My Stepbrother the Panther (The Billionaire’s Stepdaughter Book 1)”
“Mafia Romance: The Hive”
My upcoming books are:
“A Shift in Perspective (The Billionaire’s Stepdaughter Book 2)”
“Wanting the Boss (Small Town Girl in the City Book 1)” – my first F/F romance!
“A Fortune of Love (Book 1)” – Historical Romance/ Gold Rush
Me: Wow, you have a lot of books on the way. Congrats! What are your current books about?
Delaney: (My Stepbrother the Panther)
Cassidy has been crushing on her new stepbrother Gabe ever since her mother married her newest husband. Cassidy was ready to coast through her last agonizing year of high school and be off to college in the fall; but things don’t always go according to plan. Cassidy doesn’t know what to do with her feelings and is turned off by the playboy persona that Gabe exudes. Afraid of rejection and fearful of being judged for her thoughts about her stepbrother, Cassidy tries to fight her feelings. It’s not until Cassidy sees the other side of Gabe does she reconsider what she wants to do to him. Gabe is tired of ignoring the growing attraction between them, and he decides to finally make a move. The two can’t fight off their feelings and give in to the sexual attraction. Only during sex and romance does Gabe show his animalistic side.
(Mafia Romance: The Hive)
Ever since the mafia killed her father after he discovered a cure for addictions, Sara has been hunting the man responsible. Sara is a member of the Hive, a secret organization that is out to eradicate the mafia and organized crime in the city of Boston. Backed by the hive, Sara is given the means to get back at the man responsible for murdering her father. Forced into using her sex appeal to gain access to exclusive mafia parties, Sara quickly found herself in too deep. Her plan was to seduce the man and then kill him in his bed. Sara soon will find that things don’t always go according to plan; and things aren’t always as they seem.
Me: When writing – what is your typical process? Do you plan everything out – or let the words fly with the wind?
Delaney: When I plan on writing a story I figure out what genre and sub-genre I want to put the book in. After that I brainstorm to come up with a plot that I like. Once the plot is thought out I just start writing. I write roughly ¾’s of the full length that I want, including the ending. Then I go back and fill in some gaps that I find. This way I can add things to develop characters and bring the entire story together better.
Me: What is your preferred reading format? E-book or paperback?
Delaney: I prefer to read actual hardcover books. I self-publish all of my books on kindle so far however.
Me: I miss the feel of a real book in my hands, but in the last few years I have only read E-books, mostly because I have to work reading in around my toddler!
Me: What are your current goals as a writer?
Delaney: My goal is to write one top 100 selling paid Amazon Kindle short romance. I have already broken the top 100 in the free romance short reads with both of my two published books so far; but I have yet to do so when they aren’t in their free promotions.
Me: Wow. Congrats on breaking top 100 in the free romance short reads category! That is great!
Me: You mentioned earlier your upcoming works—please elaborate on your future writing projects/releases.
Delaney: I really want to write a few top selling romance series that people just want to read and really enjoy! I want to get in touch with as many romance readers and writers as I can and better myself as a writer. I want to grow a following of readers that really enjoy my work and learn from them; what they want to read and tailor my future romances to their preferences… If you write what people want to read while remaining true to yourself as a writer, I think that is when I’ll be happy with where I am as a writer.
“A Shift in Perspective (The Billionaire’s Stepdaughter Book 2)” This is the second book in the Billionaire’s Stepdaughter Series. This book focuses on Cassidy’s first week at college. There are a few twists and turns that I don’t think the reader will expect. The beginning of this book also covers what went on during Cassidy’s final year in high school while she lived with her new family, including Gabe! I’m really excited to see what readers think about the next step in this series!
“Wanting the Boss (Small Town Girl in the City Book 1)” – my first F/F romance. This is my first crack at a female/female romance and I’m really excited how it turned out! The book follows a small town girl from Iowa through the struggles of wanting a journalist career and moving to the big city. She leaves her new fiancé in Iowa and follows her dreams in NYC. It is really a culture shock to her and she starts to realize things about herself that she had to hide from everyone back in Iowa… Her extremely attractive boss brings things out of her that she didn’t think she would ever admit. It’s a story of finding yourself and giving into what you really want! I’m excited about publishing this book within the coming weeks because it’s my first shot at a LGBT romance and I think it turned out great!
“A Fortune of Love (Book 1)” – Historical Romance/ Gold Rush. This is a short romance taking place back in the 1800’s. The main character is a female that is torn between making her father happy and marrying the man promised to her; or following her heart. There is a lot more to it than that but you’ll just have to check it out to find out more!
